Discussion Topic

Post a total of 3 substantive responses over two (2) separate days for full Discussion points.

NOTE: It will be helpful to complete the Required Reading of the textbook chapters for this week before posting as it will give insight for your Discussion posts (see Learning Activities – Textbook & PowerPoints).

Due Thursday

Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

  •  A computer database system or program can be very complicated; however, the central elements of a database are composed of tables, records, and fields. Tables are also called datasheets and each table in a database holds data about a different, but associated, subject. The impact of high-performance interconnects on relational database systems is an important process.
  • Discuss details of database records and fields.
  • Discuss the role of remote direct memory access (RDMA) and remote memory access (RMA) in transaction processing

Answer preview

Records and fields are the essential elements of a database that aid in data organization. Database fields are utilized in storing data that symbolize events, people, or other items. They can be columns, tables, or entities of a single unit for every entry. Fields usually describe the individual items in a record. They are very descriptive of the data contained. Reports on computed items can also be presented in the fields. This allows the field to modify or combine an original field. The details of database records are crucial to storing information in any storage medium, such as the magnetic tapes, hard disks, or the main memory (Frawley, Piatetsky-Shapiro and Matheus, 2014). Records store data in one entity which can be a row that represents
