Adolescents in elementary school

C.HO.

I think the part that really resonated with me about this interview was Dr. Dahir’s comment on adolescents’ need to find a career that awards them fame and fortune. It is not realistic for everyone to become a professional athlete, singer, or youtube personality. I think in our society we have conditioned adolescents to believe that if they just become famous they can gain a world of money and happiness to go along with it. However, we know that that is not reality for many individuals. In addition it lessens their desire to explore other potential career options. It necessary to help children in elementary school, middle school, and high school understand that society does not have to dictate what is successful for them. In the end I believe that as long as they find something that they are passionate about it and brings them happiness they are successful.

Answer preview

What they should try to incorporate in their minds is that notion of exploring other potential options in their career choice. The society should not always be the determinant of what is successful and what is not. Instead, success should be measured in the parameters of what an adolescent is passionate in doing.
