It has often been observed that in the 20th century the United States economy was on a permanent “war footing”. According to Catherine Lutz in her book Homefront, what were some of the effects that this “war footing” had on Ft. Bragg and the surrounding area? What are some of the ways in which the histories that Lutz collected differ from our “public memory” about American military history?
