I am a firm believer in the value of having democratic processes, whereby every stakeholder’s voice and opinion is heard and considered. However, concepts such as political partisanship, voter suppression, and gerrymandering are eroding the values deeply held in the country, such as equality and freedom. Americans should not be proud of the direction their political system is taking. If nothing is done to deal with the rising levels of partisanship in the country, soon enough, there will be nothing to be proud of and worth admiration in the American political system.
