The authors discuss how aspects of climate change affect the well-being of animals and the environment. Climate change is a result of human activities which cause imbalances in the natural system. These activities affect the environment and have a ripple effect on earth’s species, including different kinds of animals. The greenhouse gases released from human activities lead to a greenhouse effect affecting wildlife behavior in aspects of mating, breeding, hibernation, and post-hibernation activities. The alteration of the ecosystem causes some animals to improve in these four areas while others may struggle and decrease procreation. The information provided in this reading will help me understand the interactions between humans, the ecosystem, and animals; their interdependence, and the effects of any changes to all three elements.
