Answer preview

As a person of integrity, one of the relevant obligations that should guide me in the development of the Pinto is following the required safety guidelines proposed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The relevant community standards that should me is producing safe vehicles that do not put the lives of the users at risk. I would have ensured that the profit motive does not drive the production of the Pinto. Therefore, I would have delayed its production until the safety issues highlighted by the engineers were addressed. Adding the extra $11 value to improve the Pinto’s safety is not worth the many lives lost due to the car’s poor safety design. By putting the value of human life before the profit motive, I would have fixed all the safety concerns before authorizing the Pinto production. Additionally, having witnessed how the Pinto’s production model contributed to crashes, I would have taken the responsibility to recall the model before it was too late.
