Description of Research Methodology

$6.00

In this assignment, you will write an essay about the research methods and ethical implications of a social psychology study. You will get information about the study from one of the entries in the SPARQ “Solutions Catalog”, which is a web site maintained by Stanford University at https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions?&&. SPARQ is an acronym for “Social Psychological Answers to Real-world Questions.” Each entry in the Solutions Catalog names a problem, and then offers a solution to that problem, based on a research study in social psychology.

The article I chose: https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions/boost-grades-reframing-failures

To keep this assignment short and manageable, your only sources for this assignment should be from the SPARQ site and your course materials, such as your textbook. There is no need for you to cite any of the course materials. Therefore, no additional citations or references are needed, beyond those from the SPARQ site.

In this exercise, you will choose one of the entries in the SPARC site, and then write a two to three (2-3) page paper that meets the following requirements.

Thanx for picking up the week 2 assignment for social psychology. I am trying to send you the grading rubric as well.

Grading for this assignment will be based on answer quality, logic / organization of the paper, and language and writing skills, using the following rubric.

Week 1 – Assignment

Presenting Arguments

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read the assigned chapters in your textbook and watch the videos Identifying Premises and Conclusions (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., What Is an Argument? (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., What Is a Good Argument? (Part I) (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., and What Is a Good Argument?: The Logic Condition (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site..

In this class, we learn to evaluate issues in light of the reasoning on all sides prior to arriving at conclusions. We aim to evaluate the quality and quantity of evidence, striving to be as objective as we can about what is most likely to be true.

If you have not done so already, begin by choosing a topic from the Final Paper Options list to use in your writing assignments in this course. The next step is to formulate a specific research question that is important regarding this topic. You may review The Research Process (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. resource for more information. So, if your topic is gun control, you would formulate a specific question, such as, “Are universal background checks effective at reducing violent crime in America?”

Once you have formulated your question, conduct research from non-scholarly sources on the internet (e.g., news articles, op-eds, etc.) that present substantive reasoning on each side of the issue.

Your task is to present and evaluate the reasoning from a non-scholarly source on each side of your issue. There is no need to take sides on the issue at this stage. In your analysis, strive to be as objective as possible, evaluating the reasoning from a neutral point of view. For an example of how to complete this paper, take a look at the Week One Example paper.

Your paper should include clearly labeled sections addressing the following elements:

Introduction (approximately 100 words)
Explain your topic.
State the specific question that you are addressing.
Presentation of an Argument

Proposed Research Question, Purpose Statement, and Design Statement

In this assignment you will present your research question along with a purpose statement. You will also present your preliminary thoughts on a research design. In other words, how do you intend to answer your research question. The specific research question should be of depth and breadth required for a major project. There is a template attached with the proper headings and settings. You are required to use this template to submit your assignment. This temple is attached as “Assignment1Template.”

Required Elements of the Assignment

Approximately three (3) pages in length, double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 pt. The length requirement does not include title/cover page or reference list.

Introduction – Provide pertinent information related to your topic focusing on why your topic is important. The introduction contains three secondary headings which are Purpose Statement, Research Question, and Design Statement.

Research Ethics and Validity

$5.00

Review ethical principles learned and discussed this week. Using the University Library, locate one current (2010 to present) US-based health or healthcare related peer-reviewed research study with possible ethical concerns. As peer-reviewed, there will be no ethical issues, but consider ethical standards as related to each step in the research process. Be sure it is research study, not an editorial, commentary, news brief or review. The focus should be on the research process, not the specific health or healthcare issue. Consider possible ethical concerns in the research process such as recruitment, sampling, research methodology, data collection or data collection instrument, etc.
You may use a research study you identified in the Week 2 Annotated Bibliography assignment if appropriate, but not the same article used in the Week 3 Team assignment. If so, do not self-plagiarize or copy/paste content from your week-2 assignment.

Data collection techniques

$6.00

Background: As noted by Kirk (2016), working with data is one of the four stages of the visualization workflow. According to Kirk (2016), “A dataset is a collection of data values upon which a visualization is based.” In this course, we will be using datasets that have already been collected for us. Data can be collected by various collection techniques.

Reference: Kirk, Andy. Data Visualisation: A Handbook for Data Driven Design (p. 50). SAGE Publications.

Assignment: Summarize 3 data collection techniques (Interviews, Surveys, Observations, Focus Groups, etc.). Compare and contrast the 3 data collection techniques you selected. Lastly, what collection techniques do you prefer and why?

Quantitative vs Qualitative Research Methods

Organizations deliver effective programs

$10.00

It is essential that organizations deliver effective programs that meet the needs of their communities. Program evaluation is a critical component for any community organization. Research a program of a community organization in your area. Describe the organization and the program. Assume that you have been hired to evaluate this program. Using the text and outside resources, create a program evaluation methodology, including a needs assessment. Support your choice of methodology and analyze how this methodology would best fit the organization and the community. Finally, discuss how the results of your evaluation will affect the organization and propose changes to the program that you think would help benefit the community. Your paper should adhere to APA formatting and be at least 1500 words.

The organization I will use is the Schenectady Jewish Community Center. Here are some resources:
