The information my friend and I got from the sales representative was good enough to make us visit the new retail store. This illustrates the success of the communication transaction. My evaluative listening influenced the outcome because the message I got to fulfill my curiosity and it also enhanced my understanding of what made the new retail store outstand from the others in the area. I have always learned that good listening habits require one to fully concentrate on what is being communicated to them so that they are in a position to make good decisions. Listening effectively to the sales representative was quite rewarding because when we got to the store, I found a kitchen item I had been searching for quite some time. Once, I purchased it, I was given a 10% percent discount as we had been informed earlier. According to Ralph and Leonard (1957), business people have realized that how they communicate with people can either be fruitful to the business or unrewarding. The words that are spoken are a powerful tool for students, customers, and patients just to mention a few since they can enhance or corrupt their evaluative listening.
