Worldviews, race, and ethnicity are difficult perceptions that can impact people’s lives differently. Culture is something people get to understand immediately after birth. For example, kids are born and taught their cultural behaviors to be part of that cultural group. Culture impacts the way people behave, including how they express different feelings. People behave differently, especially if their race and ethnicity are within a specific society. However, if people have been discriminated against based on their ethnicity and race, they might act differently, too. That is because world views make people feel cautious, suspicious, and mistrusting (Segal, 2019). Ethnicity and race are different, but they both categorize a person. Both are social constructs used to distinct populations. From the case study, I learned that people behave depending on where they grew up. However, race binds people regardless of where they grew up and what they say about them. Western colonialism has radically altered the Pacific Island culture. They managed to change a lot of the culture, many Polynesians moved to other countries, but their culture remained.
