Answer preview

If the company lacks a policy regarding taking office supplies, I will make a different decision based on this information. As a subordinate who can report to the supervisor for stealing office supplies, I would decide to discuss the situation with the supervisor. Since it is only office supplies, discussing the issue is a suitable choice since the suspect is a direct supervisor. I will monitor the supervisor’s behavior to determine if they continue taking office supplies home for remote work. Also, I will encourage the supervisor to return the items recently taken from the office for remote work. Based on whether the supervisor changes their conduct will determine whether to still proceed and report to the relevant human resource staff. Reporting the issue through the chain of command may cause retaliation by the supervisor which will question the information given by the witness. Besides, the supervisor may only receive a warning from the human resource manager, which may strain our workplace relationship.
