She states that the headaches usually occur in the morning and last a few hours. The pain, localized to an area near her right temple, has a throbbing quality. The headache often results in nausea and vomiting and sensitivity to bright lights. She has tried to treat the headaches with acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen unsuccessfully. Answer preview
J.J is a twenty-four-year-old female patient who came into my practice seeking medical assistance for the recurring morning headaches that seem to last for a couple of hours. She also points out that the headaches are causing her to experience nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to bright lights. Before seeking my intervention, J.J already took some medications such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen. After assessing her, I diagnosed J.J with migraine headaches without aura. One of J.J’s therapy goals revolves around first helping relieve the symptoms she is experiencing (Arcangelo & Peterson, 2006). I will have to prescribe some drugs to address nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to bright lights. I will also have to treat the recurring headaches J.J is experiencing and ensure there is little chance of reoccurrence in the future. The preventative medication I will prescribe to her will reduce the frequency and the severity of the headaches plaguing J.J.
