In 2019, oil refinery facilities in Saudi Arabia faced drone attacks, and oil production was scaled down (Nordea, 2020b). Saudi Arabia has diversified its economy to include the agricultural and industrial sectors. The agricultural industry comprises 2.2% of its GDP, and it employs 4.8% of its citizens. Agricultura productivity in the country has received limited public investments, and therefore, it is not developed. Climatic and geographical conditions are limiting agricultural productivity in the country, and therefore, Saudi Arabia imports the majority of its foods. The cultivation of wheat has had negative impacts on water availability in the country since wheat consumes a lot of water, which threatens to deplete water for farming. The industrial sector currently represents 49.5% of Saudi Arabia’s GDP, and industries employ 24.4 % of Saudi Arabians.
