Considering all the issued presented in The River and The Wall, and thinking about what you know about US/ Latin American relations, should the U.S. have a border wall? How do you think the immigration issue should be handled?
Although the impact is gradual, it may reform the U.S. immigration policies over time. Some of these measures are designed under a prejudiced basis, and the courts, Congress, local and state governments have declined to support some of them. According to Pierce et al. (2018), only Congress has the power to pass these legislations and other activities, such as financing the construction of the border wall. I think Congress should weigh the immigration issues at the border of the U.S. and Mexico and determine whether there are serious adverse impacts resulting from it. If present, then the law should be enacted to curb illegal immigration, and if absent, then Congress should oppose the construction of the wall.
