Shared service delivery comes with many advantages but also challenges as well. One of the challenges is getting the right people for the task as they dictate the quality of the work based on their work background and the ability to work in that specialized area (Aldag & Warner, 2018). Another challenge is compliance with international regulations. Suppose the shared service center will pay employees on international businesses. In that case, there will be a need for much expert staffing, different systems, and processes due to the different financial regulations present in each country as each country has different service providers such as banks. Underestimating technological power is another major challenge considering the ever-changing technology, which has led to clever SaaS apps to take over many HR and payroll functions. For that reason, an organization must be updated with changes in technology which is a complex task and costly.
