Post an explanation of a threat to internal validity and a threat to external validity in quantitative research. Next, explain a strategy to mitigate each of these threats. Then, identify a potential ethical issue in quantitative research and explain how it might influence design decisions. Finally, explain what it means for a research topic to be amenable to scientific study using a quantitative approach.

Answer preview
The potential ethical issue in quantitative research that is likely to occur is experimental bias. The researcher may be forced to use a certain survey that may not suit his or her selected variable (Babbie, 2017). In such a situation, when a researcher selects variables that are of his/her preference, this may interfere with the study being conducted. This might influence the design decisions by making the experimental study less controlled and also more contrived. Therefore, the researcher would not be in a position to come up with a realistic hypothesis because already the study will have been corrupted.
In quantitative approach, research is usually conducted in a larger population and different survey methods are used to collect data. In this case, when the research topic is amenable to scientific study, it means that the approach used is in researching the topic can be controllable or flexible in a way that a large sample as that in the study and different research methods can be used so that the issues encountered in the study can be addressed in an appropriate manner.
