According to Geraghty (2021), criminal profiling is a technique that dates back from 1888 and is known to be adopted and originate from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). As defined by the FBI, criminal profiling is a technique used by criminal investigators to identify the crime perpetrators by identifying their behavior and personality characteristics and try to understand and investigate the crime committed. Forensic scientists use criminal profiling to zero down on the crime suspects by determining their criminal personality and patterns.  Some of the basic steps in criminal profiling are drawing a comparison with other similar past events, evaluating the victim’s activities and background, and an in-depth analysis of the crime scene.
