The Impact of Fate and Free Will in The Iliad Novel by Homer

In the analysis of this novel, the storylines and characters are controlled by fate and free will in various ways. Initially, fate is the most profound aspect of this act because Achilles, Agamemnon, and Hector get involved in battles to showcase honor and glory. Everything happening in this novel seems ordained and fulfilling because of the available gods used in the literature. The above-stated characters are involved in wars, not by free choice but because they are warriors and are ordained to fight for honor and glory. In Book 9 to 10, Thetis warns Achilles to walk away and not to be involved in the Troy war or to face the wrath of gods. At the end of the novel, Achilles seems less heroic than any other warrior or god. Similarly, the gruesome deaths of all the wars experienced, which leave women become concubines and slaves is no freewill. However, from the perspective of fate, the gods are seen as immortal and couldn’t die;
