Answer preview

Managed care also meets the dual goals of managing cost without compromising the quality of care since the hospitals, specialists, and the groups of physicians in a managed care organization usually coordinate with each in the provision of care for a set monthly fee (Short, 2017). These systems thus control the patient’s access to specialists, laboratories, doctors, and treatment facilities. The health management organizations hire physicians as employees who are salaried instead of being paid on a fee-for-service basis. With such a system, the medical facilities are paid the same amount of money regardless of the number of times patients have visited the doctor. The service provided and the fees paid have no connection since the aim is to maintain costs down.
