Answer preview
The research study looks at Ghana’s challenges in meeting the millennium development goals (MDG) of improved child health and nutrition. The authors hypothesized that Ghana would not reach its objectives for child health by 215, which was the final year for achieving the MDGs. This hypothesis was based on the existing social factors that disfavored the improvement of children’s overall health. Some of the social factors identified included poor maternal education in which women had little to no knowledge of the actions they needed to take to maintain a healthy pregnancy (Quansah, Ohene, Norman, Mireku, & Karikari, 2016). The knowledge gap was due to insufficient community outreaches attributable to poor public health engagement from the government and other charitable organizations.
