Some of the examples of coopetition include teaming up between Ford and GM, Apple and Samsung, and Google and Yahoo. Coopetition is a win-win strategy, but there should be an event trade whereby gains are not split but rather realized individually. The parties should find a way to share their special sauce without revealing their recipes to competitors. The scope and extent of competition should be established to avoid antitrust concerns. Companies should not solely focus on rivalry but develop the flexibility to tackle risks and obtain rewards through coopetition. Besides, this trend has gained traction for about three decades, and currently, countries are engaging in coopetition to address Covid-19.
