Discussion Prompt
Initial Post: Identify all the components of a cell. Describe the function of each of these components.
Response #1: Add to your own initial post: Describe cellular metabolism membrane transport and cellular reproduction
Response #2: Add to your own initial post and response #1: Describe the aging process. Identify the pathophysiologic process for 3 underlying principles of aging. Example: oxidative process.
To support your work, use your course and text readings as well as the South University Online Library. Answer preview
A cell comprises different parts known as cellular organelles that perform specific functions. These components include cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, chromosomes, mitochondria, and ribosomes. It has a thin outer covering layer known as a cell membrane which controls the nutrients and oxygen that will diffuse into and out of the cell. The cytoplasm is fluid in the cell, creating a platform for organelles to operate. The nucleus constitutes genetic material, DNA that regulates metabolism and growth. Chromosomes are thread structures that facilitate the replication and distribution of DNA during cell division. They also perform the function of holding the proteins within the eukaryotic cells. Mitochondria produces chemical energy stored
