Answer preview

The World Health Organization (WHO) had explained several pressing issues before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed more than 700000 people worldwide. I think the most pressing issue in public health is the reluctance to adhere to the prevention guidelines for different diseases. Indeed, vaccination hesitancy is a major pressing issue in public health (WHO, 2019). It reverses the progress made in tackling the vaccine-related preventable disease. It is part of a major social transformation in which individuals have declined commitment to public health prevention efforts. The increasing role of social variables in health intervention has increased individual questioning the effectiveness of the available guidelines. The incidence of diseases such as measles and polio due to complex reasons leads to a resurgence in some countries that almost eliminated it. The reasons why vaccination hesitancy is most important are complex. Lack of confidence and mistrust between healthcare organizations and policymakers is a critical threat to public health (Hanson et al., 2018). Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, there are rising mistrust cases with people questioning the credibility and trustworthiness of the available information.
