The image of God in the Christian religion is considered to resemble God’s righteousness and holy nature. The image of God in the biblical context portrays both the distinction and similarity between God and his people. It is used to state that human beings were created in their image and likeness (Testament, 2015). People resemble God in his likeness and image due to their unique abilities, unlike other creatures. There are possible threats to the imago Dei based on cultural, idolatrous, and philosophical aspects. One of the cultural threats to the concept of “imago Dei” that translates to God’s image is covering one’s true character or outlook. It is often done to seek acceptance from society or escape the truth. Secondly, the image of God is also vulnerable to idolatrous threats, which entail the praising and worshiping of false gods or demigods (Testament, 2015).
