Language diversity is increasing across the country (Pieter, 2011). With an increase in diversity in the USA, linguistic profiling becomes prevalent. Lingual profiling entails determining social characteristics of a given person based on how he or she pronounces words or communicate.  Therefore, non-standard American English speakers are easily identified and discriminated.  It is much easier to identify someone racial and ethnicity through the phone.  Virtually, phonetics features may lead to linguistic profiling.  Through pronunciation, a person can quickly identify an African American vernacular English, Chicano English, and Standards American English.  In this research, I will be investigating various phonetics features and how people perceive about them.
