Lyndon B. Johnson’s Initiative Against Poverty

Lyndon B. Johnson’s Initiative Against Poverty

I have a essay due wednesday by 11:59 pm.

Write a paper in which you research and analyze President Lyndon B Johnson’s key initiatives for his “war on poverty” in the 1960’s.While often remembered for his failure to end the Vietnam War and his crude personality, president Johnson felt deeply about ending poverty. You should research what initiatives were put into place (remember that Congress and the Senate also played a role in passing them), what their goals were, and then how successful they have been, or if they have not been successful. When you are analyzing some of these laws and programs (choose a few, not all) look at what made them succeed or fail. Was there enough funding? Were they implemented in the same way in each state? Were the programs funded and ran by the federal or state governments, or a combination of both? Are these programs still workable today, or do they need to be modified?
