The task of implementing business infrastructure is a tough one especially in a chain store that is quickly growing and with different departments. As a CIO, before the introduction of the business intelligence infrastructure, I would begin by defining what it is and how it can be used for the benefit of the business to every person in the organization. The primary goal of business intelligence infrastructure is to deliver useful and accurate information to decision makers (Laudon & Laudon, 2015). For this reason, I would propose first to have a relational data warehouse that is responsible for storing data that will feed the systems of BI. Use of Data Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) will help in moving data from the retail chain systems to the data warehouse. Metadata layer will help the business users to use and interact with the data, and the consumption layer will promote the delivery of data to the users.(189words)
