Under employment discrimination, the civil rights act of 1964 which is also known as the fair employment practices is the main law that prohibits discrimination in all the areas of employment on the basis of race, color, nationality, sexual orientation, religion affiliation, age and disability (Jennings, 2014). The other laws that govern employment discrimination include: the equal pay act which outlines equal pay for equal work done by males and females, the equal employment opportunity act which says employers should not be discriminative when offering employment opportunities, the pregnancy discrimination act which prohibits employers from refusing to hire, promote, or not granting leave due to pregnancy, age discrimination in employment act which prohibits discrimination on in the hiring, promotion, provision of benefits, and salary raises based on age.
