Situational leadership is very important within group settings, especially since the leadership style embraced has the potential to either positively or negatively affect group performance (Thompson & Glaso, 2018). Leader directed leadership style is one of the forms of situational leadership. This form of leadership places greater emphasis on the performance of allocated tasks and duties rather than on the cultivation of member relations within a group setting. In line with this, a leader embracing this form of leadership will lean towards dictating and maintaining overall control not only over what individual members within the group are required to do but also how they are expected to do it (Thompson & Glaso, 2018).
