Ways Employers Can Use Mentors to Foster Positive Peer Pressure

Mentors motivate employees toward success and career advancement. Employees who have mentors are more likely to have a clear vision of their career path based on a more experienced professional (Bjursell & Sädbom, 2017). Instead of focusing on the immediate negative choices they can make due to peer pressure, employees will focus more on future benefits if they chose the right path in their career. Learning the ropes from someone with more exposure influences employees to make the right decisions and motivates them to assert their will whenever they face negative peer pressure in the workplace. In case employees fail to make the right decisions, mentors are available to help them correct their actions and steer their careers in the right direction. They can also offer much-needed advice on overcoming negative peer pressure in the workplace based on their experiences or learning from their long careers.
