Answer preview

The most critical conditions of NREM sleep arousal disorders are sleepwalking (parasomnia) and sleep terrors. In sleepwalking, a person walks from the bed and moves around while still asleep.  Additionally, the person may blankly stare and are unreceptive to talk from others. Sudden fright in sleep characterizes sleep terrors. The person may panic and scream, fear, have a rapid heart rate, breathe rapidly, and sweat (Ekambaram & Maski, 2017). The person is not completely awake and usually is hard to respond to others. The person forgets the episodes of sleepwalking and terrors. Arousal disorders cause stress and troubled life, which affects the quality of a person’s work and relationships. Also, the sleepwalking condition causes obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCD). Besides, sleep terrors cause anxiety and depression symptoms. Other dangers of sleepwalking are that a person can trip and fall or hit on objects causing injuries.
