Nonverbal Communication
Week 3 Topic:
Communication is a necessity in order for people to make their most basic needs and desires known to others. For those with moderate to severe speech impediments this is a huge issue that can affect all areas of their life.
Prior to this week’s discussion participate in a typical daily activity (e.g., ordering food, purchasing items, asking directions) without using oral language. Take note of how you felt and the alternative procedures you used.
In your discussion share what activity you chose and the outcome you found when you were unable to verbally communicate:
- What was the outcome?
- How did this experience make you feel?
- What were the effects on the listener?
- What have you learned from this week’s readings that would support your observations and experiences during this activity?
