Oedipus the King research paper
Drawing upon scholarly research, compose an original scholarly interpretation of Sophocles’ play Oedipus the King. (See the list of possible research topics below).
Requirements
Your research paper must be at least six pages minimum (Works Cited does not count toward the six-page requirement).
The paper must be argumentative (persuasive), with a clear, explicit, and assertive thesis statement, and must use a minimum of five to seven reputable criticalor scholarly sources (books, periodicals, or online sources).
You must include at least six to eight short quotations, one long—block—quotation, and three to five paraphrased/summarized passages, and these sources must be properly documented and integrated into your writing smoothly and correctly.

Greeks have it that fate will always triumph. Destiny involves events that befall a person without their own will. King Oedipus and King Laius his father in Sophocles artwork shows that nobody has the power to control their fate. The prophecy made for Jocasta and Laius triumph despite the commitment to kill their son Oedipus. Laius, Oedipus, and Jocasta fail in the effort to run away from their fate. Several events happen consecutively one after another to meet fate. In the Sophocles, both Laius and Oedipus made choices that reinforced the meeting of their future.
