Esophageal cancer is a type of cancer that affects the esophagus of the human being. The esophagus is the pipe-like part of the body that connects the mouth and the stomach. There are different types of esophageal cancer, and two of them are the squamous cell carcinomas and adenocarcinomas cancers. These two has some difference regarding location. To begin with squamous cell carcinomas, it forms the two third upper part of the esophagus while the adenocarcinoma affects the lower part of the esophagus near the stomach (Wu et al. 2017). Secondly, the adenocarcinomas cancer is mostly on the mucus forming glands while for the squamous cell carcinomas cancer affects the epithelial glands of the esophagus. Thirdly, the location of the cells attacked by the squamous cell carcinomas is found on the outermost layer of the skin while those of adenocarcinomas cancers are in the inner esophageal lining.
