Treatment of abnormal behavior has significantly changed and improved over many decades. As noted in the textbook, early treatment focused on the biological bases and often involved harsh treatments. You are a journalist with the Historical Society and have been asked to ‘go back in time’ and interview Jonathan. Jonathan is a Puritan living at the time when the ‘Founding Fathers’ are working to put together the Constitution. The focus of your interview is to introduce modern readers to Jonathan’s world by asking him about his background, family, culture, worldview, and beliefs – anything that will enable to the modern reader to understand the religious milieu and fervor that would have shaped Jonathan’s world.

The National Television Violence Study found that in 1996-1997, 61% of television programs contained violence, and, of those selected, 75% showed no remorse, criticism of, or penalty for the violence. Forty percent of violent acts were committed by attractive characters.

Does that account strike you as the sort of thing that insiders (i.e. members of various faith communities) would accept or reject? Why or why not?
