Answer preview

People suffering from oppositional defiant disorder strain the people around them, especially if they cannot connect the behavior patterns exhibited by a person with ODD (Ghosh et al., 2017). In the study case, the patient lives only with his mother, who also happens to be unemployed. Before she realized that her son had ODD, she had to contend with lots of disruptions to the family life, courtesy of the patient. As the only parent and person the patient regularly interacts with when he is at home; his mother has to endure a lot. Since persons with ODD have limited tolerance for persons in authority, it means that the patient regularly gets into altercations with his mother.
