Low levels of educations mean people who are supposed to engage in innovations are incapable; this lead person in living in substandard lifestyles. Lack of affordable house is a contributing factor of poverty in the United States. Think about it this way, most people would like to own an apartment or at least own one that will give them the comfort of life. The prices of owning or renting such apartments in most parts of the United States are so high compared to the wages people earn. This, therefore, forces people to become homeless. This is for the reason a lot of people live on the street or in suburbs. Substance abuse is another cause of poverty. Drugs have the effect of being addictive hence dominating the lifestyle of the user. The revelation of most poor people is that they were one’s addicts to drugs. Drugs can cause one to drain all their finances to keep up with usage (Carlock, 2016).
