My ethical awareness inventory score is more aligned to the character and less to equity. After taking the ethical awareness inventory scores test, I found that my scores were high on character instead of equity. The results did not surprise me since I always focus on character as the basis of ethical foundations. Aspirational standards are the desired ethical standards, while enforceable standards are standards needed in a profession. People possess aspirational standards before joining an organization, while enforceable standards are acquired while working for an organization. Having ethics before joining an organization increases the chances of a person making ethical decisions in the organization. From the assessment, my ethics are aligned with the aspirational standards. These aspirational standards are not enforceable. Therefore, a psychologist has the freedom to make their judgments on issues that affect the lives of patients in the spirit of nonmaleficence and beneficence (Haeny, 2014).
