Students will conduct research on the disorder they select from options given below.
Part 1
You must select ONE disorder from the list below. Selected disorders must be approved by instructor if they are not noted on this list:
- Agoraphobia
- Antisocial Personality Disorder
- Bipolar Disorder
- Borderline Personality Disorder
- Conversion Disorder
- Dissociative Fugue
- Dissociative Identity Disorder
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Hypochondria
- Major Depressive Disorder
- Narcissist Personality Disorder
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
- Panic Disorder
- Phobia
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Schizophrenia – Paranoid, Catatonic OR Disorganized
Part 2
Research the following points concerning this psychological disorder:
- Disorder’s history/background
- Causes
- Treatments
- Diagnostic criteria
- A person’s ability to live with the disorder
- Additionally, be sure to discuss the origin of the disorder, the first documented cases or famous cases, the types of treatment, how they work, and which are most effective.
- A personal insight or connection to the disorder is also required.
Part 3
Choose one of the options below to complete.
Option 1: Written Paper
Written papers should cover all the points listed above and other interesting information found during the research stage. Your paper should be doubled-spaced, 12 pt font.
The completed research paper in APA format will include:
- Cover page: Including name, instructor name, disorder, date
- Research Project: 3-5 pages, covering important and vital information about the disorder
- References Page: Cite a minimum of three credible sources in APA format.
