Answer preview
Group leaders perform various leadership functions within a group setting. One such function encompasses drawing out individual group members. In this context, drawing out-group members entails asking for more information from members or even encouraging them to take part in the discussions taking place by offering their input or perspectives of the matter at hand (Amaral et al., 2017). By doing this, group leaders encourage members to not only invest and insert themselves within the group but also to recognize personal thoughts and feelings. Once this happens, the intragroup connection will be enhanced courtesy of the subsisting self-disclosure and active participation in group activities.
One of the most effective techniques I can use as a group leader is to directly ask group members questions pertaining to the subject matter at hand (Amaral et al., 2017). For instance, when my organization comes up with goals and objectives for its various functional groups. As is the company’s policy, group leaders are expected to call for team meetings to discuss such goals. In line with this, I can organize a meeting, and during this meeting, I can ask one of the members to outline how, according to them, the group should go about meeting the targets set out for them. Additionally, I can also ask other members to comment or give their perspectives on the input offered up by the first member.
