Answer preview

Myelencephalon is the division of the hind part of the brain, and it comprises various structures, including medulla oblongata, the cranial nerve nuclei, among others. The medulla oblongata is a structure that is located between the stem of a brain and the pons. This structure supports basic life functions such as heart rate and respiration. It also supports involuntary movement like sneezing and coughing (Nieuwenhuys, Voogd, & Van Huijzen, 2007).  The cranial nerve nuclei are a series of grey sensory and grey matter motor situated in the midbrain, medically and pons. They comprise the collections of efferent and afferent cell bodies for most of the cranial nerves.
