On the other hand, arguments against high school dress codes are that it hinders an individuals’ aspect of fashion and inability to show ones’ personality. Wearing dress codes for some high school students may suppress their freedom and passion to express themselves based on their choice of dressing. When students choose their dress codes they become more conscious of their image (Fossey, 2014). Also, if high school dress codes are imposed there is always a challenge of designing a school uniform that would represent all participating cultures in the school. In addition to, it is surprising that some high school dress codes are quite discriminatory and sexist. This is usually the case for girls as they are labeled to be distractions to others due to their sense of style. High school students need to remember and understand that if dress codes must be imposed it’s mainly for their protection.
