Data is raw or coded information, which has to be translated or interpreted into some suitable form for better usage. Data is usually stored in a storage facility called database.  Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) is the type of database that is used in hospitals and health systems.  These facilities benefit immensely from data usage because operations are simplified and speeded (Shanks, 2016). The information is easily accessible and verifiable, thus, convenient.  In this way, hospitals and health systems are able to meet their operational targets, improve the care of patients and ensure that rules and regulations are complied with. There is also accountability.(302words)
