Answer preview

I think that the most impacted points of old pharmacy in America in today’s practice is that the practice shifted from that of pharmacists only distributing drugs to becoming patient care providers. It is because, by the 1840s, pharmacists stopped abiding just by the rules of the physicians by directly caring for sick individuals (McCarthy and Emeritus, 2016). This practice is still prevalent today since pharmacists enhance safety and quality patient care while administering drugs. Also, it has influenced the practice today, whereby contemporary pharmacists assume the role of drug therapy by filling appropriate prescriptions without doctors’ authorization. In addition, modern practice in pharmacy has expanded due to the early pharmacy period, thus subject to regulation by the government.
