Interviewee two: Burnout refers to the result of excess job worries and stress (Maslach & Leiter, 2016). It happens when someone feels emotionally exhausted and discouraged from continuing to provide the care. The cause of burnout in counseling is work overload. That is, when counselors deal with too many clients, they easily feel exhausted and feel like they do not want to report to work the next day. Lack of social support is another cause of burnout in counseling. That is, when counselors have less social interactions, they lack someone to share their problems, which increases their stress. To know whether a therapist is having a burnout, one should observe signs like absence from work. Also, forgetting to attend to important issues or meetings shows that the therapist no longer motivated in his/her work.
