Medicaid assists hospitals to cut back on some practices. Since Medicaid and Medicare can offer a large number of patients, there may not be a need for a hospital to engage in marketing and advertisement. Privately owned hospitals which d nor accept Medicaid or Medicare often have to woo patients into their facilities using various ways of marketing. Marketing is a costly practice that may cost hundreds of thousands depending on the media used. The Mission Regional Medical Center in Texas does not spend much on advertising as compared to other health facilities in the state because it has a massive influx of patients using Medicaid insurance cover. In conclusion, health insurance can help to reduce the burden of the cost of health care to the patient, and will also enable hospitals to meet their expenses which will improve quality.
