Compare and contrast Quality Improvement with Research

Answer preview
The design of conducting research is through following a scientific method where they have to develop a hypothesis that will be proven either true or false. That is followed by testing a small population segment to gather the relevant data. Unlike research, QI begins with known data and optimizing it for further understanding (Hall, Lee, & Haase, 2020). For instance, a facility may decide to conduct QI about the transfer of patient information between nurses. That can be through putting some measures to improve communication between nurses. Another difference is that QI studies are funded by the organization, and they use established procedures. Unlike QI, research projects are funded by external sources who would benefit from the results, and they follow new systems and techniques. Sometimes researchers have to create untested practices to conduct the study.
