Answer preview
In conclusion, illnesses form part of the typical human experience and are bound to feature significantly in communication among people. Health is a fragile state of being as a common illness may make the difference between life and death. Therefore, it is critical to use all the language tools at one’s disposal to explain and describe illnesses. Metaphors and other figures of speech enhance clarity and foster a better understanding of illnesses. Although there is a risk of creating a misunderstanding, this risk is very minimal, and it does not outweigh the good that comes from utilizing figures of speech. Therefore, people should be encouraged to use these figures of speech when discussing diseases or illnesses.
