Marr was born in 1819 and joined the political arena as a democratic revolutionary, a movement that fought for the oppressed groups of people, including Jews. However, Marr became embittered after the 1848-49 Germany revolution failed to advocate for democracy in the country, which saw his political fortunes declining dramatically. He turned his anger to the Jews community. His Anti-semitism focused on cultural characteristics as opposed to racial characteristics. He believed Jews would use their power to dominate Germany.
