According to John Hawkes, the gradual process of interaction and absorption led to the disappearance of Neanderthals, where a superior species hunted the Neanderthals.  This would have been influenced by competition to scare resources where the dominant population continued to exist while the Neanderthals become extinct. In other words, the process of interaction and disappearance led to the extinction of this version of humans begins.
