Answer preview
A stroke is a type of neurological disorder that occurs when there is a reduced blood supply in the brain, preventing brain tissues from getting nutrients and oxygen. This results in the malfunction of the brain cells where prompt treatment is required to curb brain complications and damages. The insufficient blood supply in the brain leads to neurologic dysfunction resulting in a neurologic disorder. The neurologic disorder causes weakening of the muscles, paralysis in the face or arms, and loss of sensation (Langhorne, Bernhardt, & Kwakkel, 2011). A stroke can be easily identified when a patient is having trouble speaking. A sudden numbness may be developed where a patient has weak arms or legs. When a patient raises both hands over the head, and one begins to fall, he may be having a stroke.
